Summer Holiday Club at West Midlands Safari Park is a fun and educational school holiday experience designed to inspire children through hands-on learning, interactive workshops, and unforgettable animal encounters.

Each themed day combines exciting activities with real-world conservation and wildlife education, helping children learn more about animals, their habitats, and how they are cared for.

Selected dates in August: Wednesday 5th, Thursday 13th, Wednesday 19th, and Wednesday 26th.
 

SUMMER CLUB DAYS

Summer Holiday Club offers three exciting themed experiences at West Midlands Safari Park.

Each is designed to give children a unique insight into wildlife, conservation, and animal care.

Carnivore Day

An action-packed day exploring the world of carnivores, from prehistoric predators to modern-day big cats.

Children take part in interactive learning sessions, hands-on encounters, and enrichment activities, discovering how these incredible animals live, hunt, and survive in the wild.
 
Thursday 13th August

Role of a Zookeeper

A behind-the-scenes experience that gives children a taste of life as a zookeeper.

Participants learn how animals are cared for daily, get involved in practical husbandry tasks, and discover the skills, teamwork, and responsibility involved in looking after a wide range of species.

Forest Schools

An outdoor, nature-based learning experience where children connect with the natural environment through exploration, discovery, and practical activities.

Sessions encourage confidence, teamwork, and curiosity, with a focus on wildlife, habitats, and outdoor skills.
 
Wednesday 26th August

Carnivore Day

Carnivore Day is a full-day, action-packed experience designed to bring the world of carnivores to life through interactive learning, hands-on activities, and unforgettable animal encounters.

A typical day includes:

  • Morning arrival and welcome session at the Safari Academy
  • Interactive workshop exploring carnivores and their adaptations
  • Guided discovery walk through themed areas of the park, including prehistoric carnivores
  • Animal encounters, including smaller carnivores and feeding experiences
  • Lunch break
  • Big cat viewing on the African Walking Trail, with insights into conservation and care
  • Enrichment activity session where children create items for the animals
  • Delivering enrichment to resident species such as meerkats
  • Sea Lion show and exclusive keeper Q&A
  • End-of-day reflection and certificate presentation

This carefully structured itinerary ensures a mix of education, hands-on learning, and exciting wildlife experiences throughout the day.

Thursday 13th August

Role of a Zookeeper

  • Morning arrival and welcome session at the Safari Academy
  • Interactive workshop exploring endangered species and the threats they face
  • Hands-on husbandry experience, including helping clean animal enclosures and prepare food and enrichment for goats
  • Close-up animal encounters with invertebrates and intelligent rodents, including learning about health checks
  • Lorikeet Landing experience with hand-feeding parrots
  • Lunch break
  • Guided tour of the African Walking Trail, learning about species such as giraffes, African elephants, and white rhinos, and their conservation status
  • Enrichment-making workshop, including creating natural toys for rabbits
  • Delivering enrichment directly to the animals
  • Sea Lion Theatre show with a keeper talk and Q&A session
  • End-of-day reflection and certificate presentation

Wednesday 5th August & Wednesday 19th August

Forest Schools

Forest Schools is an outdoor, nature-based learning experience designed to encourage exploration, confidence, and curiosity through hands-on activities in a natural environment.

A typical session includes:

  • Morning arrival and welcome session at the Safari Academy
  • Outdoor exploration and nature discovery activities
  • Guided learning focused on wildlife, habitats, and the natural environment
  • Team-building challenges and practical outdoor skills
  • Lunch break
  • Creative nature-based activities using natural materials
  • Wildlife spotting and observation sessions around the park
  • Reflective group activities encouraging confidence and communication skills
  • End-of-day wrap-up and celebration of learning

This carefully structured experience provides a balance of education, outdoor adventure, and practical learning throughout the day.
