Eld's Deer

Eld’s deer are a graceful and rare species known for their distinctive appearance and elegant antlers. Native to parts of Southeast Asia, these endangered deer are specially adapted to life in grasslands, wetlands, and forested areas, where their cautious nature helps them remain hidden from predators.

Visitors may spot the herd grazing peacefully or resting quietly within their habitat. Their calm behaviour and seasonal coat changes make them fascinating to observe throughout the year, while the impressive antlers of the males are one of the species’ most recognisable features.

As an endangered species, Eld’s deer face ongoing challenges in the wild due to habitat loss and human activity. Modern conservation programmes play an important role in helping to protect and support healthy populations for the future.
