Formosan Sika Deer

Formosan sika deer are elegant and adaptable animals known for their seasonal changes in coat colour and delicate spotted markings. In summer, their coats are a rich yellow-brown with clear white spots, while in winter they become greyer and more muted, helping them blend into woodland surroundings.

These deer are typically found in forested areas with dense undergrowth, where they move quietly through the landscape in search of food. Stags carry antlers, while females do not, and both play an important role in the social structure of the herd.

As herbivores, Formosan sika deer graze on a variety of vegetation, relying on woodland plants to meet their dietary needs. Their ability to adapt their appearance to the seasons makes them particularly well suited to life in changing environments.
