Southern Cheetah

Southern cheetahs are built for speed and precision, making them the fastest land animals on Earth, capable of reaching speeds of up to 64 miles per hour in short bursts. Their lightweight frame, long legs, flexible spine, and deep chest all work together to create the perfect body for explosive acceleration.

Unlike most cats, cheetahs have semi-retractable claws that act like built-in running spikes, giving them extra grip when chasing prey. Their long tail also plays a vital role in balance and steering during high-speed pursuits across open landscapes.

These remarkable predators are found across open grasslands, savannahs, and mountainous regions of southern and eastern Africa. As carnivores, they primarily hunt small antelopes and gazelles, relying on stealth, speed, and sharp bursts of energy to catch their prey.
