Ring-Tailed Lemurs
Ring-tailed lemurs are one of the most recognisable primates in the world, famous for their striking black-and-white ringed tails and expressive behaviour. Although they are excellent climbers, they spend much of their time on the ground moving through their forest habitat in social groups.
These highly social animals live in troops led by a dominant female, where cooperation and communication are key to daily life. They are often seen sunbathing in a characteristic “yoga-like” pose, sitting upright with their arms outstretched to warm their bodies in the morning sun.
Native to the forests of southwestern Madagascar, ring-tailed lemurs feed mainly on leaves, fruit, and flowers, occasionally supplementing their diet with small invertebrates. Their curious nature and playful interactions make them a favourite among visitors.
