Barbary Sheep
Barbary sheep are a hardy and distinctive species, well adapted to life in some of the harshest mountainous regions of North Africa. Despite their name, they are not true sheep but a unique wild species, instantly recognisable by their long, curved horns and shaggy coat.
These sure-footed animals are excellent climbers, able to navigate steep, rocky terrain with ease. Males are particularly striking, with long hair extending down their throat, chest, and the fronts of their legs, giving them a rugged and unmistakable appearance.
Barbary sheep are highly resilient, able to survive in dry environments where water is scarce by obtaining moisture from the plants they eat. Their adaptability and strength make them a remarkable example of survival in challenging landscapes.
