Ellipsen Waterbuck
Ellipsen waterbuck are large, sturdy antelope that are easily recognised by the distinctive white ring marking on their rump, which makes them especially noticeable from behind. Their shaggy, grey-brown coats can be slightly oily, helping to provide protection from water and the elements.
These impressive animals are typically found in grasslands and wooded savannahs close to water sources, where they graze peacefully on grasses throughout the day. Males are particularly striking, carrying long, curved, ringed horns, while females are hornless.
Ellipsen waterbuck are native to eastern and southern Africa and are well adapted to life in habitats where access to water and grazing is essential. Their strong build and calm grazing behaviour make them a key part of the savannah ecosystem.
