Safety Information

We kindly ask that all visitors understand, accept, and adhere to the WMSP Terms and Conditions while enjoying their time here. We prioritise safety and aim to provide a pleasant experience for all guests. Please note that while we strive to ensure everyone's well-being, we cannot be held liable for any loss, injury, or damage to person or property on the premises.

For your convenience, the First Aid post is conveniently located at the front of the park, next to the Ticket Office and near the car park. Please be aware that our First Aid staff are unable to dispense medication. Although the post isn't always staffed, assistance is just a phone call away using the phone located outside. Rest assured, a trained first aider is available in every area of the Park to provide immediate assistance if needed.

Please read the below and follow the safety information at all times:

  • Keep doors, windows and sunroofs closed and locked in our Carnivore Reserves (lions, wild dogs, and dhole) or when near a camel or zebra. Convertibles must have their roof up at all times.  
  • It is forbidden for anyone to exit their vehicle ANYWHERE in the Safari Drive-through. 
  • Vehicles on site are subject to the Highway Code which must be adhered to at all times. Whilst driving on West Midlands Safari Park premises, you must not exceed the passenger capacity of your vehicle and each guest must wear their seatbelts at all times.
  • Do not allow children to be seated on laps, they must be secured in their own seat as per the law.
  • If you require help, sound your horn, switch on your hazard lights and await a Patrol Vehicle.  
  • All vehicle/coach evacuations must be supervised by a Keeper. 
  • Some vehicles cannot enter our Drive-through Carnivore areas – e.g. soft top convertibles or three-wheelers. You must follow the bypass route.
  • Externally mounted items such as spare wheels/wheel covers should be removed to prevent damage.  
  • At busy times, the Safari Drive-through may take over two hours to complete the four-mile route and you will experience congestion from other vehicles. Please be patient, as all guests want to see our animals, so we’d advise taking refreshments and using the toilets before you enter. There are no breaks for facilities in the drive-through. 
  • No dogs are allowed on our premises, you will need to leave your dog/emotional support animals at home. For assistance dogs, please see our Accessibility Page here. All assistance dogs must be left in the kennels when heading into the drive-through, no exceptions. 
  • Do not allow animals to put their head inside your vehicle; keep your windows half shut or shut completely.  

When in the Safari Drive-through, you will find the following instructions displayed at the electric gates: 

WARNING: KEEP CLEAR OF ELECTRIC GATES 

  • If the red light shows, do not enter the yellow box. 
  • Keep the yellow box clear at all times. 
  • Do not enter the yellow box unless you are able to exit.

You must comply with these instructions at all times. Under no circumstance will West Midlands Safari Park accept responsibility for damage caused to any vehicle entering or exiting the electric gates.  

 

  • Do not touch or feed our camel, zebra, giraffe, Barbary sheep or any carnivore. 
  • Do not allow animals to put their head inside your vehicle; keep your windows half shut or shut completely.  
  • When feeding, hold your hand flat, outside the vehicle and at arm’s length.  
  • To stop feeding, turn your hand, drop the feed and bring your hand back inside your vehicle. 
  • After feeding or touching the animals, use the hand wipes provided. Animals carry infections that are harmful to humans. It is important that you wash your hands thoroughly with warm water after touching or feeding the animals and before you eat or drink.  
  • Pregnant women and immune-compromised individuals must ensure they wash their hands as a priority after they have touched or fed an animal.
  • There are three dedicated Wash Stations in the Park – outside the Ticket Office, at Lorikeet Landing and at the entrance of African Village.
  • West Midlands Safari Park accepts no responsibility for damage to persons or property by the animals. 

ALL GUESTS MUST BE ABLE TO SIT UP AND HOLD ON UNAIDED ON ANY RIDE – any guests who are unable to hold themselves up and hold onto the safety bars unaided, will not be allowed entry onto any of our rides for their health & safety.

  • Guests must obey all signs and safety warnings and ensure children are supervised at all times.  
  • Guests are informed that for operational, technical or other reasons, any attraction may have to be closed, removed, altered in type or otherwise unavailable at any time. 
  • All children must understand the importance of remaining seated at all times. 
  • Some rides may allow small children to be accompanied and supervised.  
  • The guardian must make sure that children understand and follow any instructions given by the ride operator.  
  • Guests must remain seated until the ride has come to a complete stop.  
  • Please note: the Wristband Office closes one hour before rides close; once a wristband or ride tickets have been purchased, no refunds will be considered.  
  • Rides are subject to height restrictions and careful consideration should be given to any such limitations prior to the purchase of a wristband. Minimum height is 0.8m for all rides. 
  • Guests must remain seated with hands, arms, feet and legs inside the vehicle at all times. 
  • You should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or any condition that could be aggravated by the adventure of certain Theme Park rides. Expectant mothers should not ride.  
  • Some rides have limited opening periods at certain times of the year.  
  • All guests will require a wristband or ride ticket(s), including those supervising smaller children.
  • Wristbands must be fitted at the point of purchase.
  • Removal of the wristband invalidates the rider.
  • Wristbands are non-transferable and valid on the date of issue only.
  • Proper clothing, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times.  
  • No loose articles are allowed on our rides. We do not allow mobile phones on our rides and loose articles must be left in the property boxes at your own risk. Exceptions can be made for guests who require ear defenders or similar items. You must inform the Wristband Office before heading to the rides, who will issue you with a sticker to denote the authorisation of the items on the ride. We cannot allow loose items on the ride unless you have been issued with this sticker.
  • If the ride requires 1:1 accompaniment of a child due to their height, each child would need to be accompanied by at least one person who meets the height requirements. On water rides, this person must be a person over the age of 18.
  • Our water ride (Zambezi Water Splash) has a maximum weight capacity; your group may be asked to separate or sit in certain places to balance carriages correctly.
  • Long sleeves must be worn on the Slippery Snake Slide, no exceptions will be made.
  • Only adults may sit on the outside swings on Jungle Swings.
