Join us this autumn for an epic lantern trail, where you can enjoy mesmerising lighting displays, discover a ‘wild’ range of breath-taking lanterns and explore the walk–through areas of the Park like never before.
Be transported to a wonderland of lanterns and interactive lighting displays. With over forty light groupings, and up to 1000 individual lanterns, the event will have something for all ages, and make a fantastic family evening out.
With magical lit-up landscapes, dinosaur lanterns, glowing animal installations, a giant interactive piano keyboard, rainbow tunnel and many other creations, the 3km trail has been designed to offer guests a safe and enjoyable evening, with plenty of fun all round!
22nd – 31st Oct, 5th – 7th Nov, 12th – 14th Nov, 19th – 21st Nov, 26th – 28th Nov and 3rd – 5th Dec 2021.

Please note, rides are only open from 22nd – 31st October, and 5th – 7th November.
The Safari Drive-through and all other walk-through animal exhibits will also be closed during the evening event.

Lantern Festival – Frequently Asked Questions
Tickets must be purchased separately to any day-time tickets. Lantern Festival admission tickets prices:
Adult – £18.00
Child (3-15yrs) – £15.00

Lantern Festival is our brand-new event, starting on 22nd October 2021! Guests will be able to discover a magical trail of lights, around our walk-through areas of the Park for an after-dark illuminations experience like no other.
This is a separate evening event, starting at 5.30pm, and all guests will need separate Lantern Festival tickets to visit.
Unfortunately, Free Return Codes cannot be used for Lantern Festival.
Free Return Codes will not be issued to guests who have purchased a Lantern Festival ticket.
The Safari Drive-through and other walk-through animal exhibits will be closed during Lantern Festival, as it is an evening event. Guests can still purchase separate day-time tickets, if they wish to see the animals earlier in the day, but Lantern Festival tickets will need to be purchased separately.
All guests will need separate Lantern Festival tickets to visit the new evening event. Guests visiting in the day will be required to leave the Park by either 4.00pm or 4.30pm, depending on the day. The Lantern Festival then starts at 5.30pm.
If you have purchased both day-time Safari tickets and Lantern Festival tickets, you will need to leave the Park inbetween the events. Guests visiting in the day will be required to leave the Park by either 4.00pm or 4.30pm, depending on the day. The Lantern Festival then starts at 5.30pm.
All Day Guests with Lantern Festival tickets must leave site when the Park closes for the day at 4:30pm.
You can either leave our site completely, or you can sit in one of our entry lanes on our main driveway until the Park reopens for Lantern Festival at 5:30pm.
Lantern Festival tickets can be booked for specific arrival times. This is to ensure we are able to safely manage guest numbers through the lantern walking route, as well as at entrances.
The Theme Park will be open on selected dates when Lantern Festival is running; from 22nd – 31st October, and from 5th – 7th November only.
Blue Light Card discounts will not be applied on tickets for Lantern Festival, unfortunately.
All Annual Pass holders can benefit from 10% off admission tickets for Lantern Festival.
Annual Pass holders can get the usual 25% off ride wristbands and Annual Pass PLUS holders will still receive free wristbands during the event.
Tesco Clubcard Vouchers or ASDA Funpacked Summer Codes cannot be used for Lantern Festival, unfortunately.
The Lantern Festival will still continue in wet weather. We would advise guests if the festival was cancelled in extreme weather (storms etc).
Our exciting new evening event, ‘Lantern Festival’ will launch in October and end in December. We recognised that our ‘Firework Festival’ weekend was hugely popular with guests, and so, with ‘Lantern Festival’ now running across a much longer period of six weeks, we’re delighted that we can welcome even more guests to experience West Midland Safari Park at night, with a magical discovery of lights and illuminations.
Our illumination spectacular gives guests the chance to discover our ‘wild’ range of breath-taking lanterns and explore our walkthrough areas of the Park like never before. We can’t wait for the fun to begin!
