Join us from 24th November 2023 – 7th January 2024 for our brand-new skating experience!

Safari Skating

Get your skates on this winter and join us for our brand-new festive experience. Safari Skating allows you to try out your skating skills on our very own Glice® rink. This eco-friendly ice rink alternative is suitable for all of the family and doesn’t require any water or energy, meaning it’s more sustainable (and not a soggy bottom in sight!).

Traditional ice skates are to be worn on the rink (included in the cost) and skate aids can be hired for any smaller skaters.

As this is an outdoor event, we recommend wrapping up warm and wearing thick socks that cover your ankles.

Each session on the ‘Glice® rink’ will last a maximum of 45 minutes. Guests will be asked to arrive ten minutes prior to the start of their time slot to have their tickets checked and collect their skates. At the end of the time slot, guests will be asked to vacate the ‘rink’ in order for the Safari Skating team to prepare for the next time slot.

Yes you can bring your own skates if they are hockeystyle skates, without toe pick ends.

The ‘Glice® rink’ can be found towards the top of the car park at WMSP. Directional signage will be in place.

Glice® is a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to a traditional ice rink. The rinks require no water, energy or carbon emissions. Each panel of Glice® is made from a special non-toxic plastic, which allows traditional ice skates to glide over the surface. Each panel has a life cycle of 20 years, and once used, Glice takes the panels back to recycle. What’s more, for every Glice® sheet that is produced, Glice plants a tree through the Plant-for-the-Planet scheme.

Guests should arrive at least 10 minutes before their allocated time slot.

Guests can experience the ‘Glice® rink’ without purchasing an admission ticket to the Safari Drive-through and walk-through areas within West Midland Safari Park.

Annual Pass holders can add on a Safari Skating session online for £8.50 per guest aged 3+, when making an Annual Pass reservation. We recommend pre-booking online to guarantee your time slot.

Guests will still be permitted entry onto the ‘Glice® rink’ if they arrive late to their time slot but will have less time on the rink. All guests will need to vacate the rink at the end of their allocated time slot, regardless of how much time they have spent on the Glice®.

Stability aids can be purchased at £5 per aid, to assist guests around the ‘Glice® rink’. We have limited availability and they will be sold on a first-come first-serve basis. These can either be sat on or pushed.

There will be open shoe racks available. Guests must be responsible for their own shoes and belongings.

Unfortunately, refunds will not be offered for missed time slots.

Requests for changes to Safari Skating time slots will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please email info@wmsp.co.uk if you have an enquiry.

Toilet facilities are located within a 2-minute walk to the ‘glice rink’.
