West Midland Safari Park recognises that day-to-day operations can impact both directly and indirectly on the environment.  We aim to protect and improve the environment through good management and by adopting best practice where possible.  WMSP will work to integrate environmental considerations into our business decisions and adopt greener alternatives wherever possible throughout our business operations.

To achieve this commitment, we will:

  • Comply fully with all relevant legal requirements, codes of practice and regulations.
  • Manage waste generated from our business operations according to the principles of reduction, re-use and recycling.
  • Reduce water and energy use.
  • Ensure environmental criteria are taken into account in the purchase of goods and services.
  • Prevent pollution to land, air and water.

To secure these objectives, we will:

  • Review and improve our environmental policies and performance, and allocate resources for there implementation regularly.
  • Communicate internally and externally the importance of our environmental policy and performance on an annual basis.
  • Communicate the importance of environmental issues to our staff, visitors and other interested parties.
  • Involve customers, clients, suppliers and contractors in the implementation of our objectives and to encourage feedback.
  • Improve the environmental efficiency of our transport and travel.
  • Promote waste and recycling education within local schools by sponsoring and supplying accelerated composting equipment used as part of the school activities.
