Collecting samples from Sea LionsMSc project studying the anatomy of an Elephant eye.
Research mission statement:
To facilitate and initiate research that contributes to species conservation and the welfare of animals in our care.

WMSP contributes to research in many ways; from allowing researchers access to study animal behaviour or collect physiological measurements to supplying them with biological samples and animal records. We collaborate in projects initiated by endangered species breeding programmes, other zoological parks,  national and international conservation bodies and university staff.

From March to October the park hosts students from local universities who collect data for Bsc/Msc dissertations on focal topics chosen by WMSP. We encourage applications from professional researchers and postgraduate students who are involved in projects which are in line with our research mission.

All researchers wishing to collaborate with WMSP must fill out a'Project Proposal Form' and comply with the WMSP 'Research Policy'.  Students are not able to collect behavioural data during the winter season (Nov – Feb inclusive) except at weekends.
