ELE TUNES...
When it comes to making music, the elephants at West Midland Safari Park have learnt a thing or two!
After producing colourful works of art and playing football, their latest interest involves playing the harmonica and dare we say it, they really are rather good - particularly when they play a duet!
It has been well known for many months that both elephants are fond of rock music and therefore it seemed only natural when they took to the musical instrument - with surprising results.
Elephants Latabe and Five - 16 and 17 years respectively - have lived at West Midland Safari Park since they were five-year-old orphans and they have both developed an extra-ordinary liking for the arts and showing off their remarkable skills.
The trunk of these gentle giants is strong enough to pull the branches off a tree, yet sensitive enough to pick up a small leaf - or indeed play such a small instrument!
Both elephants can be seen in the African Reserves daily and up to 7.00pm during Summer Nights - late night opening which runs from 1st to 31st August.
