I have now been working at West Midland Safari Park for 2 seasons, for the Guest Services department. I thoroughly enjoy being able to work outdoors and working with a mixed group of staff and visitors.
After working as a Production Supervisor for 17 years at Jaguar Cars I decided to take early retirement. After working all of my adult life I found it hard to sit at home doing nothing, so I applied for a part time position at the West Midland Safari Park, planning to work just a few hours a week but I enjoyed the work so much I now work almost full time hours, doing a variety of task, mainly outdoors in a pleasant and healthy environment.
I get some real satisfaction from talking with and helping the many visitors that come to the park and doing my bit to ensure that the park looks its best even at its busiest times. I am lucky to enjoy working and still have the time to enjoy my hobby, touring the country in my caravan.

The Safari Park is definitely an employer you should consider working for. I have worked for two seasons between studying at University and will be going back every year as the atmosphere makes it an enjoyable and comfortable place to work. I have made so many friends and am still in contact with them all. That is one of the key things with working at the park; everyone is so friendly and makes it a pleasure to work there.
Even the work that you inevitably have to do is varied and promotes the development of so many skills that can boost your CV, as it has done with mine. I have worked at the Safari Park for 5 seasons now and enjoy having a break over the winter period. This allows me to have an enjoyable break between seasons and I have the option to assist in the Park’s Santa Safari event during December if I choose to apply. Working for the Safari Park gives me the flexibility to spend time with my grand children while having the opportunity to earn extra money.

What can I say about the Safari Park?! It is a great place to work.
I started working at the park when I was 16, and although it was quite a daunting prospect for me, I was made very welcome and fitted in straight away. Now, 6 years on, I am studying away from home at University, but have continued to go back to the park to work in the Easter and summer breaks.
I have gained a great deal of experience and skills from being at the park for so many years; including health and safety training, food hygiene certificates, and dealing with the public. The team I have worked with this summer have been fantastic, and I have really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to coming back again next summer.
