Scientists have a special system to identify animals. They don't want to confuse a Lion with a Tiger, or an Alligator with a Crocodile. Every kind of animal belongs to its own species. Scientists put species into different groups or "categories" such as Mammals and Reptiles.

Similar species can be put into a category if they have certain things in common. In this game you will learn which categories animals are in and why.

Emu
Emus are members of the Bird category, all birds have beaks, wings and feathers
Tiger
Tigers are members of the Mammal category, all mammals are warm-blooded, breathe through their lungs and nurse their young.

Ostrich
There Ostriches are diurnal and go to sleep at night. Ostriches sleep with their necks upright most of the night, however if they do extend their necks to the ground it is only a couple of times a night and never longer than 15 minutes.
Wallaby
Wallabies are diurnal and sleep at night, during the day they will rest in the shade of a tree and will look for food in the afternoon when it it is not so hot.

Rhino
Rhinos are nocturnal. During the hot African day, they lie in mud or dust. At night they feed on grasses.
Owl
Owls are nocturnal, and sleep during the day. At night they will hunt for food. Their big eyes allow them to have great vision in the dark.
