Animals have many skills that have helped them to gather food and water to hide from predators and to communicate with other members of their group.

They have adapted to their surroundings to survive harsh conditions.

Giraffe
A Giraffe has a very long neck so it can reach leaves from tall trees to eat. Their height makes reaching its favourite food effortless.

Elephant
Elephants have a long trunk to suck up water to drink, it also uses its trunk to pick food up off the ground or off trees.

Crocodile
Crocodiles have lots of sharp teeth to bite into its prey, a Crocodile has at least 60 teeth. In a lifetime a Crocodile may have up to 45 sets of teeth which grow to replace ones which break or wear out.

Tortoise
The Tortoise has a hard shell around the middle of its body. The shell is very hard and a Tortoise can tuck its head and legs into the shell giving it excellent protection against predators, it also makes a good house!

Porcupine
The Porcupine has a great weapon against predators, it has lots of spines on its back which when attacked, the porcupine runs at the preadtor and digs its spines into it. This would be very painful for any predator.

Wolf
The Wolf has a great way of communicating with other Wolves. It howls, which can be very loud and will travel a long distance. It can call other Wolves who are far away to warn them of danger, to find each other or to attract a mate.
