Animals
come in many fantastic colours and patterns for many different
reasons. Animals can hide from predators by blending in with
their background, they can also hide from their prey to make
a surprise attack.
Animals also use their patterns to attract
a mate, or to warn other animals that they are dangerous. |

Bengal
Tiger
Bengal Tigers have special stripes that make it blend in with its surroundings.
This means a Tiger can creep up on animals that it wants to eat without them
seeing it coming. |
Zebra
Zebras also have stripey coats but they use their stripes in a very different
way to the Tiger. If a herd of Zebra see an animal coming to attack them,
they will run close together making it very hard for the predator to pick
out one Zebra to attack because they get confused by all the stripes. |
