Animals make noises to communicate with each other.
We can often tell which animal we can hear by the sounds that they make.

Lion
Lions make a roaring sound to communicate with each other. An adult lion's roar can be heard up to five miles away and warns off intruders or to call members of its pride.

Elephant
Elephants make a trumpeting sound with their trunks to warn or
greet other elephants nearby. These animals also produce low-frequency rumbling sounds, which can travel over great distances, reaching the ears of elephants several kilometers away.

Wolf
Wolves howl for a variety of reasons, to warn or greet other wolves, to search for other members of the pack, to express happiness and joy and even loneliness.

Snake
The snake makes a loud and prolonged hiss when annoyed, it warns predators off. Unlike many other animals, snakes do not hiss to communicate with each other because snakes are deaf, instead they are sensitive to vibrations that they feel through the ground.

Bison
Bison communicate through by grunting and snorting, these sounds would be used to call members of the herd and to warn off predators.

Goat
The Goat makes a bleating sound, again to call other Goats, some people confuse their sounds with those that Sheep make however they are quite different.
