Many species of animals have become extinct over the last few centuries and there are many species that are at risk of becoming extinct in the near future. This is due to Humans destroying their homes through deforestation and pollution, many species have died out due to Humans killing them for food, medicines and their fur.
 

Bengal Tiger
There are only around 2,000 Bengal Tigers left in the wild, they are killed for their fur coats. They are also killed for their bones and other body parts which are used in traditional Chinese medicines. They are classified as an endangered species.


Hippo
There are only around 10,000 Hippos left living in the wild, they are classified as a vulnerable species.


North American Wolf
There are only around 40,000 North Anerican Wolves left in the wild. They are classified as a vulnerabe species. People see them as pests and many farmers will kill them to protect their livestock. Their habitat is also being destroyed by deforestation, so the Wolves are finding it hard to find places to live.


African Elephant
The African Elephant is also a vulnerable species, there are only 600,000 left in the wild. Elephants are killed for their tusks, which people make into ornanments and other objects. they are also killed for their meat and their homes are being destroyed through deforestation.


Prezwalski's Horse
The Prezwalski's Horse is now extinct in the wild and can only be found in captivity in parks such as The Safari Park.


Rhino
The White Rhino is also endangered, there are only around 6,500 left in the wild. Like Elephants, Rhinos are also hunted by poachers for their horns and are sold for lots of money.
