Animals come in many amazing sizes and have many amazing skills that Humans are unable to do such as flying, swimming deep under the water and climbing trees.

Animals rely on these special skills to stay alive in their often harsh environments.

Lion
The Lion is the largest of all the African carnivores and may grow up to an astonishing size of 3 metres long and 1 metre to the shoulder.
Bengal Tiger
The Bengal Tiger can reach 91 centimetres in height from its feet to the shoulder, making it the largest of all the cats.

Bison
A North American Bison male may reach a height of nearly 2 metres and a weight of 1 ton. It has heavy developed shaggy forequarters, topped by a hump just behind the neck. Long, thick hair covers their head, neck and shoulders, extending almost to the rump to keep them warm in winter.
Gnu
Gnus are a member of the Antelope family, it weighs up to 350 kg has a Buffalo - like head, horns and huge shoulders. They rely upon their keen eye sight and sense of smell to avoid Lions which are their greatest enemy. They can run up to speeds of 40 miles per hour and live up to 20 years old.

Wolf
The North American Wolf has a powerfully built skeleton, long nose, strong jaws and ears always pricked. The North American Wolf can run up to speeds of 28 miles per hour to catch its prey. Their coat varies in thickness depending on the climate, and is generally brown / grey in colour with a touch of black. They look similar to a large domestic dog but it howls rather than barks.
Camel
The Bactrian Camel is easily distinguished from other members of the Camel species because it has two humps. It can weigh up to 600 Kg. The hump acts as a fat reserve which enables the animal to survive long periods without food or water. A Camel can go 5-7 days with little or no food and water.
