Our education team aims to cater for all your formal education needs: pre-school, special needs, KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4, A Level, FE, HE and more. We have a variety of sessions available, and can put together a session especially for your needs with prior notice.
Schools wishing to visit the Safari Park without using the Education Centre’s facilities should refer to instructions on our School Groups page.

Facilities

Educational classroom facility, complete with state of the art technology, includes a 92” screen; overhead digital projector which can be connected to DVD, Video and PC, seats up to 50 pupils theatre style – or 30 with work tables – may be hired exclusively for just £35.00 per hour.

Educational talks for just £1.00 extra per pupil. Great fun and good for learning. The 30-40 minute talks come complete with teacher’s notes, lesson plan and work sheets to be completed back at school.  Click here for our range of educational talks.

Educational tours for just £1.00 extra per pupil. An ideal walking Safari, which includes a briefing in the Discovery Centre, followed by a guided tour of Twilight Cave; Creepy Crawlies; Seaquarium and Reptile House, followed by a questions and answers session.

Educational activity sessions for just £1.00 extra per pupil. A variety of creative activities, which includes drawing and paper craft.

Organising a visit.

On arrival at the park...
On arrival please book in at reception. Once parked please allow adequate time to walk from the main car park to the Discovery room (approx 10 minutes). Due to full class schedules, session times cannot be extended if groups arrive late.


At the Discovery Room...
An education officer will meet your group outside the Discovery Room next to the Twilight Cave. Once inside you will be briefed with information about your particular session. Our education officer will conduct the sessions, with the teachers holding ultimate responsibility for the pupils.


In the Safari Park...


Toilets
Toilets are located in the Main Car Park; Discovery Trail; Amusement Area and within the Explorers Café.
Please note that there are no toilets in the animal reserves. The journey around the reserves usually takes around one hour and fifteen minutes – though this can increase significantly during busy times.

Packed lunches
Picnic benches are located throughout the Discovery Trail and Amusement areas. A variety of catering outlets are available throughout the Discovery Trail and Amusement areas.
Lunches or afternoon tea/coffee can be pre-ordered with a £25 deposit, at the time of booking.
If you feed the animals please remember to wash your hands before eating your packed lunch.

Missing Persons / Lost Children
If any children become separated from their group / party, then our lost children point is the First Aid Hut which is located near to the Explorers Cafe, OR our reception area which is located at the main entrance.
Anyone who has realised that a member of their party has been separated from them should report it immediately to a member of staff who will inform their supervisor / Manager to alert all Managers on the park to be aware of the missing person.

First Aid Centre
Located between Discovery Trail and the Amusement Area. Kindly note: First Aid Staff are unable to dispense pills, potions or sprays. Limited stocks are available for purchase at African Queen Trading and African Trading Company.


Risk Assessment

A risk assessment statement is sent out to all groups at the time of booking.

To ensure your group minimises the potential for accident, please remind them to follow all safety instructions where displayed; obey all signs and to keep to the pedestrian areas at all times. It is also advisable to suggest wearing footwear that does not have slippery soles or high heels, especially in damp or wet weather and during evening events.

Our education facilities are in constant development and we are always trying to improve our quality of service to you. We actively encourage feedback of our facilities whether it is good or bad.
